DC has revived its long-running team-up and tryout title, The Brave and the Bold and Comics Buyer's Guide #1627 features an exclusive original cover featuring Batman, Green Lantern, and Supergirl by Dick Giordano and an inside look at the new series as well as Captain Comics' retrospective of the original series.

Mr. Silver Age looks at Superman's run-ins with mythic and legendary heroes.

Harlan Ellison not only talks about his upcoming Dream Corridor collection, but also reviews Artbox's Frankenstein trading cards.

Speaking of double features, we have not one, but two Top 10 Favorite Covers lists this issue!

Finally, Maggie Thompson looks at the earliest film adaptations of comic strips.

All this and more, plus the largest and most complete monthly price guide in comics.

...I guess I'll find out from Maggie's piece , but , at least if we strictly define " comic " as " comic strip or book , more or less in the standard American formats " , a mid-20s movie of once-popular " girl " strip ELLA CINDERS qualifies as " the first , American , live-action , comics-based , feature " , IIRC .
There was a silent Little Orphan Annie as well . Maybe a Harold Teen , too ?????????

I'm not going to spoil it for you, Walter, but I will say that the first film goes back much further than that.

When does it ship? I haven't recieved my issue yet. I sent in my renewal, and I even got the check back already from the bank.

Maybe all the snow has slowed it down? My post office has to deliver "through rain and snow, Deathstar, Darkseid, Fatal Five or Galactus". They better get it here, or I'm going to have some mean withdrawl pains.

Really enjoyed this issue!

More Ellison please!

Maggie's Spidey action figure story was funny, funny, funny!

And was wondering. Noticed that Heidi's not around anymore. Was anything mentioned in the magazine?

I second the request in regards to answering the question "What happened to Heidi McDonald?"
Her space has disappeared from this forum too.

Due to other work pressures, Heidi is on hiatus for now, but plans to have at least one more column in a future issue.
