Having Jones do this cover was a neat idea!

Just saw your nominations for the CBG fan awards in this issue. Who stuffed the nominations box for Linsner? He was nominated in just about every category available, not to mention his character Dawn. How do these nominations work? And just what has Linsner done this year to rate 5 nominations?

Ballot box stuffing is not allowed, but we do encourage fans of a given creator or project to let their voices be heard in the nominations process for their favorite and that's what Linsner's fans did.

In addition to various projects featuring his Dawn character, Linsner and company produced Claws, a Black Cat/Wolverine mini-series for Marvel in 2006.

Here in old Italy, I received my copy very fast on Saturday 04/21, just two weeks after #1629!

This weekend I didn't have so much time to read it,
as of now I have appreciated the last part of ASM retro reviews, the 52/WW3/Countdown spotlight, Marc's column (I liked the old horizontal design of "hot" comics list more, however), generally speaking, great work guys!

More to come soon, I hope!

The horizontal design for Marc's "Dozen to Dig For" will return with CBG #1631. That layout was a one-shot affair to accomodate a slightly longer column.

My copy was a learning experience... a couple of the characters from the extreme right of the mailing label were actually printed on the cover!

I thought the mailing labels were printed separately and then affixed to the cover, but obviously the labels are blank when they go on the magazine, then the names and addresses are ink-jetted on 'em.

Interesting.

I've had copies like that, too. Inkjet printing is a fun thing. I like when there's a Post-It note on a page in my copy of a magazine that has my name on it. You can't get that kind of personal attention reading a magazine on the Internet!

well, regmsure, it depends on which #1 you have. there were at least 5 printings. the first two were larger than modern comics, as i recall. the 3rd printing was the first one that was scaled down to modern size. press run for the first printing was 3000 copies; for the second printing it was 15,000, third was 36,000. fourth was 50,000. prices for the issues are as follows: 1st printing is dicey, as prices vary widely on this book. i've seen some issues on dealers' walls at shows listed for anywhere from $100 to $2000; the others guide at $20 for 2nd, $12 for 3rd, $5 for 4th, & $4 for 5th. all prices are for issues assumed to be in NM-(9.2 for you younger kids). hope this helps.

I'm not sure where else to post this message, but for those interested in the circulation of this fine magazine, I just received issue 1631 (August 2007) in today's mail!
Lovely cover of Captain America standing in front of the Statue of Liberty and the freebies included within the wrapper look interesting.
