Neil Gaiman, who is on the other side of the globe at the moment and has far better things to do than read my blog, responded to my post about buying from Amazon UK. He advises I can just log in on that site. "It uses all your Amazon.com information. You can also use amazons france germany and japan if you want. Even canada." Woo hoo!
