Angus McGill and Dominic Poelsma
Posted by maggie

It occurred to me to try to track down online images of (Clive creators) McGill and Poelsma -- and I had no luck. Since that annoyed me, I thought I'd post this photo, which appeared on the back cover of Augusta the Great, copyright 1977 Beaverbrook Newspapers. I'm guessing the one on the left is McGill.

Dear Maggie,

My pardons for sending this twice, which is what I may be able to do. I thought I'd posted it but it didn't clear, so I will try a second time. Sorry.

Dear Maggie -

I just came across your posts on Mz Augusta, and McGill and Poelsma. I'm a great fan of this beautiful strip, which I came across when I moved to central Louisiana some 40 years ago - and discovered it in the New Orleans Times-Picayune, which my parents received up in Alexandria, LA. I believe the fellow on the left is McGill. I wrote them a fan letter, and received a very nice reply from McGill, who was the writer. I wish I had followed up more dutifully! Let me know if you ever find out more information about them. Both they, the wriing and the art were very cool. :-)

I love your site. Great work.

ps. Is there a book collection of Trog?

ps2. I once met Stanley ! (Little Lulu.) This was at a fabled Boston Comic Con - where I was also treated to dinner by Uncle Carl (Carl Barks), along with about 30 others. I had connections. :-) Just bragging ! :-)

Again, I love your posts.

Byron
