Demonstrating TBG?s fandom reach outside comics, its first photo-cover featured Star Trek?s Mr. Spock. ?Despite the fact that the TV show is off,? Alan Light wrote, ?there is tremendous interest in it among comics fans.? The cover photo was an enlargement from a filmed scene never used, he wrote.
Tony Isabella provided a column named The Odd Collector, including a ?Notes from the Newsstand? section, presaging his later I Cover the Newsstand column for CBG. Reviewed publications included the September 1972 Amazing Stories and one of its stories, ?Earth to Earth? by Betsy Curtis, who, Isabella pointed out, was notable to TBG readers as Maggie Thompson?s mother.
