A full-page “open letter” from Roy Thomas rebutted, in detail, Joe Brancatelli?s two controversial Inside Comix features. The letter reprinted one Thomas had sent to Jim Steranko‘s Comixscene. “Where there’s smoke, there’s definitely a smoke-making machine,” he wrote.
Just in time for Halloween, TBG featured an original cover by Berni Wrightson, one of the best early covers and one that DynaPubs would use in advertising for years.
Cover dates for TBG issues #46-52 are best guesses only. For issues dated #45 and earlier, deadline dates on Page 2 were two weeks after cover dates; when the next cover date appeared after a seven-issue lapse, the deadline dates on Page 2 were now two weeks before the cover dates. Issues #51 (Jan. 1, 1974) and #52 (Jan. 15, 1974) were the only issues with publication dates on the inside pages. These issues were dated on the upper right corner of Page 2, above the deadline information.
