Dragging? Complaining? Visit the new Mr. Silver Age Forum!

Mr. Silver Age is pleased to announce that he has been generously offered a Forum section on the Website of CBG Columnist Captain Comics!

In addition to hosting a Forum that will replicate the wackiness of the one that existed here, Mr. Silver Age will be posting a regular blog, filled with essays, comments and (most often) never-before-reprinted columns from his treasure trove of writing from his (gulp) 19 years’ worth of CBG articles.

Combine those two features with an existing blog on the site, Commander Benson’s Deck Log by Silver Age fan (and AMSA Forum poster) Commander Benson, and we may have created the World’s Finest Silver Age site! It’s an easy site to use, post photos to and generally chatter about whatever is on our minds.

Come check out this Brave & Bold move as two of CBG ’s columnists forgo the traditional slugfest and go right to the team-up to provide news and comments on comics old and new.

The AMSA blog is here

The MSA Forum is here

So come along now and join the party! Come along now and have some fun!

Why are you quoting from the “New Casper Cartoon Show”? Wouldn’t it be much more Silver Agey to quote from, say, one of those cheesy Marvel cartoons, or the “Superman-Aquaman Hour of Adventure”?

I dare say very, very few of us have spent much time pondering the likes of that little witch we call Wendy (she’s as cute as she can be), or that tough guy Spooky (he’ll surprise you, wait and see).

At least, not that we’ll admit to it.

See you over at the new Mr. Age Forum! I’ll be sure to bring along some Goody’s!

  2. I used it because I was typing the “Come on over…” line and it popped into my head and I couldn’t get rid of it–and I still can’t get it out. I didn’t really linger over it, and I figured that maybe if I typed it out, it would vanish. No such luck.

I wondered if anyone would place it. If I were you, I’d say you had to Google it to know the reference.

If you haven’t pondered Casper much, you should give it a try, particularly with those Dark Horse collections that are out. I think those Harvey comics were gateway drugs to the addictive world of Silver Age comics. I know they’re where I started out.

As with the SP volumes, those collections can be too much of a good thing, but I still think they’re fun. I have not yet invested in that Harvey Girls one, though. Littles Dot, Audrey and Lotta were not my favorites by a long shot.

No need to bring any Goodys to the new Forum. I’ve got us covered there.

A story I recall from that show was in the classic AMERICA’S BEST TV COMICS/ABC COMICS multi-company in- the-same-title book~!!! ” Abba dabba zero hour,Casper lose your ghostly power!”:-)
One of pretty few Casper stories I remember, actually.
