Artist Ernie Schroeder dies

Xtra.gifGolden Age artist Ernie Schroeder has died. In the 1940s, the artist, who was born in 1916, received his art training from the Art Students League. He worked on comics in the mid-1940s on such titles as Harvey Comics’ Captain Freedom, Spirit of ’76, and more. His work also included Airboy and The Heap for Hillman Periodicals before retiring from comics in the 1950s.

Among his last interviews was in Roy Thomas’ Alter Ego #42 (Nov 04).
