Comic-Con News Roundup #1: Thursday highlights

Among the many news announcements at Comic-Con International: San Diego on Thursday were these items:

Neil Gaiman has announced that, to mark the 25th anniversary of Sandman #1 in 2013, he will write a prologue/prequel story with art by J.H. Williams. Gaiman was unable to appear at San Diego, but shared the news via a video at a DC/Vertigo panel.

Lego has exclusive figures of Shazam! (Captain Marvel), Venom, Bizarro, and Phoenix.

Abrams has teamed with Comixology to offer ebooks of several of its graphic novels, including My Friend Dahmer, Empire State, and Mom’s Cancer.

• In addition to the return of “Joe’s Comics” at Image, J. Michael Straczynski has announced that he will be doing a project at Legendary.

Marvel will change the title and title character of Hulk with #58 to Red She-Hulk. Jeff Parker continues as the series’ writer with artists Carlo Pagulayan and Wellinton Alves.

Jimmy Palmiotti announced that All-Star Western, Animal Man, Hawkman, Suicide Squad, Team 7, Amethyst, and The Phantom Stranger are among the titles that will be featured under DC’s new “The Dark and the Edge” banner.

Brian Pulido’s Evil Ernie will return from Dynamite in October.
