Marvel editors Axel Alonso, Tom Brevoort promoted

Marvel Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada has announced promotions for his two vice president, executive editors. Axel Alonso has been promoted to editor in chief, a job Quesada held for more than a decade, while Tom Brevoort has been promoted to senior vice president of publishing. Quesada will retain his CCO post, which was added to his resumé in 2010.

Alonso has been at Marvel since 2000, working on both the Spider-Man and X-Men families of titles. In his new role, Alonso oversees Marvel’s editorial creative direction and helps develop new story lines and events.

Brevoort joined Marvel as an intern in the 1980s and worked his way up to assistant editor and then editor before becoming an executive editor in 2007.
