The World’s Largest Trivia Contest continues in Stevens Point, Wis. How is Yaargh! & Refresh & Watch Wiki Change doing? Check back here and see. I’ll post periodic updates. (Brent Frankenhoff)

Yesterday’s Panel Quiz Answer

It was a twofer, as we were looking for two characters’ first lines. Tubby Tompkins’ first line in comics was, “When are you getting your wings, Lulu?” which should tell you that it’s Lulu Moppet who then said, in the same panel, her first line, “I guess my mother’s got ‘em finished by now.” Lulu had appeared earlier, but always without dialogue, in The Saturday Evening Post. She and Tubby (who had also appeared silently in The Post) made their speaking debuts in Four-Color Comics (Series 2) #74 (Jun 45).

Today’s Panel Quiz

Whose first line in comics was “There they are again! They want me dead so badly … but who do they work for? Who sent them … and why?”

  1. Brent Frankenhoff says:

After 12 hours of Trivia, Yaargh! is in 36th place with 1,085 points. Out of 400 teams, that’s not bad and it’s still early in the 54 hours, so we’re doing just fine. For comparison’s sake, the top team, Festivus for the Rest of Us, which got off to an early lead, has 2,540 points. The perennial winner, Network, this year known as The Anti-Social Network, is in 6th with 1,620 points.

  2. Brent Frankenhoff says:

After hours of waiting, the scores have been updated on the Trivia website and we’re now in 15th place with 2,430 points after 19 hours of the contest.

The top team is still Festivus for the Rest of Us with 4,435 points.

  3. Brent Frankenhoff says:

With the first day of Trivia now done (24 hours down, 30 to go), we’re in 18th place with 2,625 points. Festivus maintains its 1st place position, but with only a 30-point lead on the 2nd place team.

My favorite team name? Dyslexics are Teople Poo! (They always have an imaginative name. One year, they walked into a bra.)
