Comic-Con International: San Diego enters its second full day today and CBG Senior Editor Maggie Thompson has her reports on Preview Night and beyond.

• J. Michael Straczynski has announced the return of his “Joe’s Comics” imprint at Image. Previously, the imprint was under Image studio Top Cow Productions.

Fox News’ Entertainment page is speculating that The Dark Knight Rises could be an Oscar contender for a Best Picture nomination and that its director, Christopher Nolan, might be nominated for Best Director. Of course this is all speculative with the film a week away from release and predicated on how The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences marked The Return of the King, the finale of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
