• In the wake of the shootings in Aurora, Colo., at the midnight showing Thursday of The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. and other studios are not releasing box office totals for the weekend at this time. In addition, Warners is recutting promotional trailers for the film to remove any gun references. The studio also pulled the trailer for the upcoming Gangster Squad which has a scene with crooks shooting up a movie theater. Over the weekend, The Dark Knight Rises’ director Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, and Gary Oldman all released statements expressing sympathy for the victims. Also, the AMC theater chain banned face-covering costumes and fake weapons for its showings of the film.
• Flying Buffalo Founder and President Richard Loomis’ Ace of Aces reprint project met and exceeded its $25,000 Kickstarter goal over the weekend, raising more than $30,000 for the project. In celebration, Loomis is creating additional T-shirt designs for those who pledged.
