• During Comic-Con International: San Diego, artist Brent Anderson’s car was broken into at the San Diego Zoo and the following pieces of original art were stolen: 50 pages from Astro City Vols. 1 and 2 and Astro City: Local Heroes along with approximately 50 pages from Astro City: The Dark Age Books 1, 2, and 3. Also taken were approximately 45 pages from Green Lantern: Legacy, at least four pages from Green Lantern Silver Age Special, eight pages from Green Lantern/Plastic Man: Weapons of Mass Deception, and approximately 48 pages from Rising Stars #15 through #24. Anderson has asked that the list be spread as far and wide as possible, especially to original art dealers and eBay buyers. Anyone with information on the stolen pages can contact Anderson at kneedeep@sonic.net. (Please only use the address in relation to the art, not for general inquiries.) (Brent Frankenhoff)

The Vulture’s first lines in comics were, “Well, well! So the Park Avenue Jewelry Exchange is moving a million dollars worth of diamonds to their new offices across town, eh?” He said them in Amazing Spider-Man #2 (May 63).
Whose first line in comics was “I didn’t expect a welcoming committee, but, since you asked …”?

Question of the Week
What comics-related question do you most want the answer to?
The best answer received to this week’s question (in our opinion) will receive one of the glossy wraparound covers from CBG #1000 that we just found in the archives while researching our 40th anniversary. So, c’mon, tell us your thoughts, make us smile, and you could hold a piece of CBG history in your hand! Send us your answer in the “Leave a Reply” area below.

The Magazine

Let’s take a moment to remember Dave Stevens, a tremendous talent taken from us too soon. I never met him that I recall – my loss – but I’ve heard nothing but good about him. He is missed.
Recommend reading: IDW’s Rocketeer Adventures #1 and #2 with new stories of Stevens’ creation by some of comics’ best: John Cassaday, Mike Allred, Kurt Busiek, Michael Kaluta, Mark Waid, Chris Weston, Darwyn Cooke, Lowell Francis, and Gene Ha.
