• For the third weekend in a row, The Avengers has dominated the box office with an estimated $55 million in ticket sales. Battleship, Universal’s summer blockbuster that cost more than $200 million to produce, came in second with an estimated $25.9 million, considerable below opening weekend forecasts of $35 to $40 million. Avengers is now the #4 film in global ticket sales, earning $1.18 billion. The three films ahead of it globally are Avatar ($2.78 billion), Titanic ($2.18 billion), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 ($1.32 billion).
