• We continue to hope for the best for our readers and friends affected by Hurricane Sandy. Mark Evanier had one of the better insights into the rest of the country’s thoughts on his blog yesterday.

Random House and Penguin Publishing have announced a merger. The new conglomeration of the two book publishers will control nearly 25% of the market.

Comic-Con International has extended its contract with the San Diego Convention Center through 2016. The organization is also in the process of obtaining a date for a 2013 WonderCon in San Francisco.

• Halloween is almost upon us and Turner Classic Movies is having a whole day of fright films tomorrow, including House of Dark Shadows at 9 a.m. E.T. The classic Universal monster films and some of their sequels will air tomorrow night and we’ll tell you about them in tomorrow’s Comics Guide!

  1. This is pure guesswork. I figured it was either Cain of the House of Mystery or Abel of the House of Secrets. I went with Abel because he seems more polite than Cain.
