• CBG Editor Brent Frankenhoff spent Friday at Wizard World Chicago. He’ll have a report posted later this weekend. The show continues through Sunday.
• Russ Cochran is offering a special on his Sunday Funnies series. Normally $30 each, he’s offering the first two issues as a package for $50. You can see a slide show of several pages of each oversized collection here.
• In the ongoing “will he, won’t he” debate around Ben Affleck directing a Justice League movie, the latest from one of Affleck’s “people” is that the star will not. At this point, until or unless an official announcement is made by Warner Bros. and Affleck, we’ll drop the matter.

• On Saturday, Turner Classic Movies has a trio of films starring James Mason. At 5:30 p.m. E.T., Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) stars Mason in an adaptation of Jules Verne’s novel. (Pat Boone fans may enjoy his turn as Mason’s companion on the trip.) That’s followed by Lolita (1962) at 8 p.m. and the trilogy concludes with The Desert Fox (1951) at 10:45, in which Mason plays German tank commander Erwin Rommel.
