• Comics writer and editor Roger Slifer has been taken off a ventilator and is breathing on his own after seven weeks following a hit-and-run accident that left him comatose.

• Due to his Parkinson’s Disease, Richard Thompson has announced that he will end his Cul de Sac newspaper strip Sept. 23. A benefit book to help cover Thompson’s medical costs and raise money for research was recently published.

The Hunger Games releases on home video Saturday. Did you pick up a copy?
