I'm on a roll. Jack Frost, who,. if I recall correctly, was later renamed the Blizzard. Wasn't that the issue that introduced Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan?

Understood, however, if we are pointing to public domain or ownership, Alan Moore gave up his rights to those characters to DC long ago, hence he has no right to complain at all if we are taking that under consideration. Like you said, creators can be their own worst enemy, and with thathaving to deal with the consequences. BUT, I'd venture a guess, cause like you said the creators are dead so we can't rightly ask them, that the creators of the characters in Lost Girls would highly disapprove of what Moore did with their characters. I personally don't care either way, but it's hard to feel sorry for Moore when he is as guilty of taking others work into an entirely different direction without respect to the original material source, most evident in Lost Girls. That doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining to read ;) NOR was the Watchmen the Movie any less entertaining for me to watch. He should just be as flexible with his work as he chooses to be with the work of others.

Point taken, Miket --- but none of the original creators of the works you mentioned were alive when Alan wrote The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I believe, as well, that the works from which those characters originated were all in Public Domain.

I agree to a certain extent. Peter David (if I recall correctly) said it best in regards to Alan Moore being upset about Watchmen. Moore was not happy about the idea of a movie and what DC did to his characters and yet he did not mind taking free license with Dr. Jekkyl & Mr. Hyde, The Invisible Man, and other characters who appear in League of Extroidinary Gentleman OR for that matter Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ. I doubt the original creators of these icons would appreciate the artistic license either.

I am deeply disappointed that these artists and writers (some of whom are my friends) have gone against the wishes of Watchmen creator Alan Moore in producing new Watchmen stories. It would be much more productive and beneficial for the creative parties involved to come up with their own new characters and to honor Alan's wishes to leave the Watchmen alone.

Sometimes we creators are our own worst enemies.

It was an issue of The Brave and the Bold with a Gil Kane cover and I'm pretty sure the villain's name was the Time Commander.
