Subway tunnels can bridge the gap between the world of the living and the dead. Sometimes the living see the world of dead to their own horror and other times the dead reach out to introduce the living to their world. There is a need for someone to make sure the incursions of one side into the other don't cross any more lines than it has to. Seiya fulfills that role, sometimes an observer and sometimes a rescuer in these stories, but like the protagonist of last week's review of Hell Girl, he serves as a Cryptkeeper-style common thread through all of the stories. Unlike Hell Girl he does not feel the need to inflict ironic punishments on anyone, but does at times let horrible events proceed unmolested. There is a wider array of stories possible in this premise then was possible in Hell Girl, but fundamentally this is a very episodic horror anthology. Some good bits, but nothing that especially moved me.

This is a weekly manga review here on the CBG site, but don’t forgot to check out my other review site, Prospero’s Manga for more manga reviews.
